Health & Safety
Everyone at Moore Insulation believes that safety comes first, we employ an external Health & Safety consultant to advise the Health & Safety welfare of our employees and sub-contractors on safe system of work. All our operatives are provided with the necessary training needed, covering safety passport cards, PASMA tower building courses, IPAF scissor lift and cherry picker training etc.
We are also responsible for protecting others against the risks to health and safety in connection with our company’s activities, by controlling and preventing the unlawful acquisition, possession and use of dangerous substances end emissions into the atmosphere. Within this policy all our employees and sub-contractors, are actively involved in monitoring the highest achievable standard of safety. The basic requirement is that all persons are responsible for their own safety and that of their colleagues.
2. MOORE INSULATION RESPONSIBILITIES
COMPANY DIRECTORS RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To ensure implementation of the company safety policy for the general health, safety and welfare of all employees and contractors and ensure a safe operation and working environment within all our client's premises.
2. To ensure we comply to the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
3. To apply all the aspects of the safety policy through departments.
4. Maintain a personal commitment to the safety policy as an example to others.
5. To act immediately to set right and report any unsafe act or potentially unsafe act.
MANAGING DIRECTOR RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Responsible for the safe operation of plant and machinery.
2. To co-ordinate the necessary training and instruction for safe working practice.
3. To maintain a personal commitment to the safety policy as an example to others.
4. To report any fatal accidents and those resulting in major injury or condition to the necessary authorities.
5. Responsible for fire prevention, safe and efficient evacuation of the work place.
6. To act immediately to rectify and report any unsafe act or potentially unsafe act
1. Responsible to the Managing Director to monitor and report the health, safety and welfare of the staff under his supervision.
2. Relate to the Managing Director any points of safety arising during the course of work.
3. To insure all staff under his supervision apply the company safety policy and procedures and are aware of their responsibilities.
4. To incorporate safe working practice and procedures into the methods of work and instruction.
5. To report defects or damage to plant and equipment and affect or organise repair to eliminate potential hazards.
6. To ensure all staff are issued with protective clothing and that said clothing is properly maintained and used.
7. Responsible for the discipline of staff under his supervision.
8. Maintain a personal commitment to the safety policy as an example to others.
9. To act immediately to rectify and report any unsafe act or potentially unsafe act.
ALL EMPLOYEES RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Fulfill their individual responsibilities by operating in a safe and responsible manner.
2. Make full and proper use of protective clothing and equipment provided.
3. Maintain and keep clean all company owned equipment and return said equipment after use to its place of origin.
4. Maintain their place of work and working environment in a clean and safe manner.
5. To report any damage to property, plant or equipment.
6. Adhere to any safety requirements, rules and requirements laid down by the client at their place of work.
The company will ensure that the necessary levels of training are given to all employees in order to carry out their work in accordance with the health and safety requirements and those of the client.
Training will be performed by in-house personnel or by third party services as required.
All personnel will attend a safety training programme on a monthly basis which shall cover an introduction to the safe working practices, regulations, premises, welfare etc.
All accidents and near misses shall be reported in accordance with company procedures and where applicable, client's requirements. All reports shall be reviewed during the safety meetings. When considered necessary the Managing Director will investigate an incident and take action to prevent its re-occurrence. All fatal accidents and those resulting in major injury shall be reported to the enforcing authority as quickly as possible followed by a written report.
FIRE AND EVACUATIONS
The Managing Director or person nominated will be responsible for all aspects of fire prevention, fire fighting and evacuation procedures.
All equipment will be properly maintained and certified.
No electrical equipment should be used unless covered by an up to date certificate of conformity.
Items of equipment will be issued with a unique number, and a record of all tests and services kept.
MEDICAL FACILITIES AND WELFARE
The company will ensure a competent first aider is always on site during normal working hours.
A first aid kit will be kept at a first aid point which will also display the names of all competent firs-aiders.
REVIEW OF SAFETY PROCEDURES
The Managing Director will be responsible for reviewing the safety policy and procedures and regular safety meetings will be held.
SAFE PLACE OF WORK
The following points will assist in ensuring that the work place is as safe as possible.
All employees are expected to work in a safe and proper manner and must abide by the relevant company's policies codes or practices and site safety rules at all times.
Safety footwear must always be worn.
All fire exists clearly marked and kept clear at all times.
Materials and dangerous substances stored safely.

5. SAFE WORKING ACCESS
1. Every job above ground is to be planned and consideration given to the use of scaffolding in preference to portable ladders.
2. All ladders should be lashed at the top to a firm support (whilst carrying out this action a second person must foot ladder).
3. Never allow more than one person to ascend at once.
4. Ladders/steps to be checked by Moore Insulation’s safety representative every 6 months.
1. Scaffolds must have a sign "scaffold complete" or authorization given by appropriate personnel before scaffold is used.
2. All materials and equipment on working platforms must be stacked and secured safely. Dropping or throwing articles from overhead working platforms is strictly forbidden.
1. Crawling boards or roof ladders must be used on any asbestos (or similar fragile material) roof.
2. Suitable barriers shall be erected to prevent falls from the edge of eaves or roofs.
